Geotechnical drilling is a method of investigating subsurface soils to provide data for engineering design prior to construction of buildings, dams, roadways and other infrastructure sites. The data collected may be used to determine how deep pilings/footings must be installed to provide stability, if a slope is causing previously unnoticed movement of the subsurface, and other conditions that must be considered in construction planning and execution.
